PROGRAMS WITHIN SCHOOLSwithin

Job Shadow: Offers students the opportunity to explore careers by spending 2-4 hours   observing someone in their field of interest. Students discover the skills and educational background required for a specific career. This program is available to qualified high school, technical, and college students.

Internship: Allows students to develop workplace skills in a high-wage, high-skill training environment. Internships include on-the-job training with a skilled mentor and may be paid or unpaid. This program is available qualified high school, technical, and college students.

Group Tour: Groups of students, accompanied by educators and chaperones, observe work processes and occupations. The event provides an introduction to careers allowing students to ask questions of people at their business. Student age and group size varies to             accommodate the host business.

Career Seminar: A group event for high school students which includes a group tour and interviews, but is more in depth on specific career fields.

Career Fair: Share information with students K-14 about your specific career field by hosting a booth at a career fair. Hands-on activities, whenever possible, enhance their experience.

Speakers Bureau: Teachers wish to have business people serve as speakers for special classroom presentations, Tech Prep studies, career day activities. etc.

Power Lunch: Offers students an opportunity to hear presentations by local business     people during their lunch hour. Through this program, students learn about the large number of careers available in our area. This program is available to middle and high school         students.

Lunch Buddy: Be a friend and “Role Model” for a third-grade students in a mini-mentoring environment. Local business people volunteer to have lunch with an at-risk student once a week. The mentor can help monitor their progress in school and encourage them to do    better.

Career Pathway Seminar Series: Offered once a month, this after-school program provides students an opportunity to receive an introduction to their high school career pathways in middle school.   A panel of local business people present information on careers selected from a specific pathway.

Soft Skills Panel: Help students and teachers understand the importance of “soft skills” and other skills required to be successful in today’s workplace by serving on the Soft Skills Panel.

Adopt-a-school, Adopt-a-class, Adopt-a-subject: Give support and resources to one class or one school. Establish a formal agreement between you business and the school.
